About Wellbeing Notes
Wellbeing Notes is an everyday-health blog for adults who want clear, unhurried answers to ordinary questions. How do I drift off when my mind will not stop? Which sunscreen should I pick up this summer? What does the number on my fitness watch actually mean? We write the sort of short, careful piece we would hand to a friend over the kitchen table.
The site is run by a small group of writers who use pen names. None of us is a doctor, nurse, pharmacist or therapist, and we never suggest otherwise. What we bring is patience with reading, a liking for plain language and the habit of saying "see someone about this" whenever a question moves beyond general information.
What you will find here
- Sleep covers the evening routines, bedroom tweaks and night-time noises that shape how rested you feel, starting with how long it should take to fall asleep.
- Skin & Sun explains labels and choices in everyday skin care, beginning with how to choose a sunscreen.
- Heart Basics is where we look at pulse, resting heart rate and the habits that support them, such as in how to check your pulse.
- Health General gathers wider topics, from what a dental check-up can reveal to stress, body image and quitting smoking. Browse it in the Health General section.
- Lifestyle holds the pieces that sit closer to daily habits and choices; see the Lifestyle section.
How we like to write
Every article starts with a question a real person might type into a search box at eleven at night. We try to answer it in the first few paragraphs, then add the context that makes the answer useful. We avoid miracle language and big promises. When the evidence is mixed or still developing, we say so rather than smoothing it over.
We also keep health pieces general on purpose. We do not suggest doses, diagnose symptoms or tell anyone to start or stop a treatment. Each guide ends with signs that mean it is time to speak to a GP, pharmacist, dentist or another professional, because a person who can examine you will always know more about your situation than a web page can.
Older pieces and newer ones
Wellbeing Notes has been around for a while, and some articles in the archive were written years ago. We have been revisiting them, rewriting where the wording had aged and adding clearer safety notes. If you spot something that still reads as out of date, please tell us.
